STUDENTS AND SOCIAL NETWORKING

Dear Parents and Guardians:

Technology is constantly changing and our means of communicating is always improving, getting faster, and reaching many people all over the world with a click of a button.  Just last month both Harrison Elementary and the District presented Social Networking programs for parents.  The information shared was both informative and “eye-opening”.

Are your children communicating via “Facebook”, “Instant Messaging”, and “Texting”?  Do your children understand the ramifications of inappropriate texting, bullying, and social networking?   Your fifth and/or sixth grade children will attend a presentation (in the Crosby Elementary gym) – “Students and Social Networking” on Tuesday, April 12th at 1:00pm.  The presentation is sponsored by CBTS – A Cincinnati Bell Company.  The presenters are Dotty Smith, Assistant Hamilton County Prosecutor and Steve Fisk, Business Analyst at CBTS.

·       Dotty Smith is responsible for prosecuting juveniles in the county.  Dotty will address students on the legal ramifications and consequences of inappropriate texting and cyber-bullying.

·       Steve Fisk has spoken to nearly 1,000 students in the past year related to the severe consequences of teens who have participated in inappropriate texting and cyber-bullying through the use of cell phones, laptops, and social networking sites.

If you have any questions, please feel free to give me a call.

                                                                                                Sincerely,
