Student of the Week

Each week one student will be randomly picked to be our Student of the Week.  When your child is picked, then on Friday I will send home an information sheet that needs to be completed and returned on Monday.  I will put that information into a power point presentation that we will share with the class.  Your child may bring something to share to the class for show and tell, pictures to share, and their favorite book.  Your child will also be bringing home our class pet, Bubbles.  There will be a notebook with Bubbles, and you and your child can share about a fun adventure you had with Bubbles over the weekend and return Bubbles and the notebook to school on Monday.

Daily Folder

Your child will have a folder that they must bring home everyday and return everyday.  The folder will have the weekly newsletter, weekly behavior chart, homework, class work, and any notes from me.  Please check their folder each night.  Please send in any notes or book order money, lunch money, etc. in their folder.

 Birthdays

(click to see the birthday page)

If your child has a birthday, you may send in a treat to share with the class.  If you are planning on coming and sharing the treat with your child or sending it at a certain time, please contact me so that we can set up a time to do that.  At the end of the school year we will have a special day to celebrate all the summer birthdays.

Weekly Behavior Chart

In your child's folder, which needs to be brought to school everyday will contain a behavior chart.  Your child will color the square to show what color their card was on.  If they had to flip their card, there will be a behavior report for you to sign and return the next day. Please initial the behavior chart on Fridays and your child will return it on Monday.

  Homework

On Monday I will send home a homework packet with reading, spelling, math, and a home reading record that will be due on Friday. There will be no homework assigned on Friday.  If your child did not turn their homework in on Friday, then I will send home a missing homework note.  If the homework is not returned by Monday, then your child will lose 15 minutes of recess.

Take Home Books

Students that are not ready for AR tests, will have a manila envelope. I will send home 1 book per week with 5 comprehension questions for each book (similar to the AR tests on the computer).  Return the envelope with the book and completed questions on Fridays, and I will send home a new book on Monday.  Students will earn a sticker on their chart for each book completed.

Cat Cash

Whitewater has a Cat Store run by the PTA.  Your child can earn cat points (cash) by doing good deeds, not getting their card flip for the week, etc.  We will go to the Cat Store every other month and students can shop with their cat cash.

Lunch Money

If you are sending in a check, then please put your child's name and lunch pin number in the memo.  If you are sending cash, then put it in an envelope or baggie with your child's name and lunch pin number.  A lunch menu will be sent home each month or you can click here to see the menu.  We eat lunch from 11:35-11:50.

Daily Snack

Your child will have a snack time each afternoon.  The snack needs to be healthy, quick to eat, and not messy.  Please read the letter for specifics.

Monthly Words of Character- we will be discussing these words during the year.

Friendship, Trustworthy, Respect, Responsible, Fairness, Caring, Citizenship, Choices, and Effort

Student of the Month- each month I will choose 1 student who has been showing a lot of effort.  They will be on our Morning News and get a certificate from Mr. Rouster.

Positive Phone Calls- Mr. Rouster will be making phone calls throughout year to let you know about some good things we are seeing at school.  Students will receive a prize during lunch.

Bucket Fillers- when students are being a bucket filler, they put their name in the bucket.  I will be pulling names out throughout the year, and they will get to go to the office to receive a prize.

 Effort Tickets

Students can earn effort tickets in our classroom, when they are showing effort.  It could be effort with their work, behavior, or while participating. They will put their tickets in the monkey, and each week I will pull a few names out.  When a students name is pulled, they will receive a prize.  At the end of each month, all effort tickets will be sent home.
