Welcome Back!
We look forward to another excellent year!  For the FIFTH year in a row Crosby Elementary School achieved an EXCELLENT rating on the Ohio State Report card.  This accomplishment could not be possible without the support of the entire educational team:  student, parents, teachers and support staff.  Thank you for your continued support!

The school fees will again be $15.00 per student.  Make checks payable to Crosby Elementary School.

Important Information
Please take time to complete both the yellow enrollment card and emergency medical forms as soon as possible,

School Hours
Crosby Elementary hours are 8:30 AM-3:00 PM.  If your child arrives after the 8:30 AM bell rings, please bring him/her to the office to sign them in.  If the office staff does not know your child came in late, he/she may be counted absent for the entire day.  Your child will be marked tardy if they arrive within 1 hour late or leave within the last hour of the day.

Student Absence
If your child will be absent for any reason, please call the office at 738-1717.  If a child is not at school, we make every attempt to notify you to be sure they are safe and accounted for.

Lunch Money
Every student has a cafeteria number at school.  They use this number every time they go through the cafeteria line and purchase breakfast or lunch.  For your convenience, you may send in cash or a check (payable to Crosby Cafeteria) once a week, once a month or whenever you choose.  The money will be applied to your child’s account.  This helps eliminate lost lunch money and is more convenient for parents.

If you think you qualify for free or reduced price meals, please fill out the application in your packet and return it to school as soon as possible.  You will be notified by mail if you qualify.

If you have any questions about lunches or the cafeteria, please call the Head Cook, Mrs. Peggy Peace at 738-1717.

Drop Off
The earliest students should be dropped off is 8:05 AM.  At that time there is adequate supervision and the student may go directly to the classroom.

Student Safety and Pick-up
We keep a close eye on who is on school property.  Please help us by stopping in the school office when you enter the building.  If you are picking your child up at the end of the day, we ask that you DO NOT go directly to the classroom.  You need to come to the office, notify Mrs. Scheer and she will call your child to the office for you.  For your child’s safety we ask that you remain in the lobby area and escort him/her to the car.  Parking space is limited and small children are hard to see.  We encourage you to park along the back parking area (under the basketball goals) to make dismissal safer for everyone.

Picture Day
Picture Day is Tuesday, September 16th.  Your child will need their picture day payment envelope/order form the day of pictures or before.  Information will be send home soon.

Labor Day Holiday
There will be no school on Monday, September 1, 2008 due to the Labor Day Holiday.  We hope everyone enjoys this last long weekend of summer.

Student Banking
Thanks to Miami Savings Band, our students will again have the opportunity to learn about saving money.  Students who wish to participate in this savings opportunity need to open a savings account.  Forms will be available at school or the bank.  Banking dates will be held every other Thursday at 8:15 AM beginning September 4th.  Look for additional information to be sent home soon.

Magazine Sale
The school-wide magazine sale kicks off on Wednesday, August 27th.  This is a big fundraiser for Crosby Elementary.  The monies from this sale are used to provide assemblies, after-school enrichment programs and physical fitness awards to name only a few.  While participation is not required, we do try to offer some fun prizes and rewards to those students who do sell magazines.  The sale runs through Wednesday, September 10th.  Please call the office if you have any questions.

E-Mail/Internet
At the bottom of this newsletter there is a space to provide your e-mail address which would be used to communicate school-wide announcements.  Please remember this will be a one-way tool of communication.  If you are interested in contacting a staff member by e-mail, please use the web page at www.southwestschools.org
